Empowering education innovators

through critical experiential learning.

Teachers will ideally experiment with the framework in their educational contexts, make it their own and share the results with the Education for Social Change community.

Experimental Pedagogics (XP) is an educational meta-approach developed with flexible associated educational practices, developed by Ginie Servant-Miklos. The aim of this page is to help you understand what it’s about, how it works, what theories each level of XP builds on, and how you can apply this in practice.

At the heart of Experimental Pedagogics

Experimental pedagogics provides a comprehensive structure for what would otherwise be an overwhelming whole: education’s relationship with existence is examined through five distinct “dimensions” of analysis.

Cognitive Dimensions

Designing learning that's effective, efficient and enjoyable.

Individual Dimensions

Emotional and embodied aspects of learning.

Group Dimensions

Building group dynamics considerations.

Community Dimensions

Education for social change.

Global Dimensions

Impact of global issues of concern on education.

A journey through education

Why meta-philosophy? XP structures existing theories and philosophies in a Russian-doll-like system that assembles everything into a coherent, concentric whole.

It breaks reality down into five dimensions, from narrowest and closest to us, to broadest and furthest away, starting with the brain and ending with the world, passing through individuals, social groups and larger communities.

Teachers can apply the framework sequentially, or apply the logic of the framework to existing courses in ways that do not necessarily follow given on this page.
